Syria, reduced to a geographical term

The demise of the Syrian Republic also means the demise of the last “Ba’ath Party” regime.

Let me explain to you what the “Renaissance Party” is. The full name of the Renaissance Party is the “Arab Socialist Renaissance Party”, which is also a pan Arab political party headquartered in Damascus, Bashar Assad was the last General Secretary.

The purpose of the Renaissance Party is to achieve “unity, freedom, and socialism” in the Arab world, and to oppose feudal authoritarianism, imperialism, and Zionism that violates the rights of the Palestinian people.

Simply put, it is “anti imperialism and anti feudalism”+”anti Israel”.

The Arab Socialist Renaissance Party originated from a vigorous national liberation movement in the 1940s in the Arab region.

The founder of the Ba’ath Party was a Syrian Christian named Mitchell Afrak, who studied abroad in Paris, France when he was young. He read the works of Marx, Nietzsche, Lenin, Tolstoy, and Romain Rolland, and was deeply influenced by socialism and liberalism… Therefore, the initial members of the Ba’ath Party were a group of petty bourgeois intellectuals who pursued national liberation and modern life.

They want to overthrow imperialist colonial rule, overthrow feudal religious power, and build their imagined ‘socialism’ in the Arab region.

Between 1943 and 1945, the Arab Renaissance movement began to resist French occupation of Syria and Lebanon. The movement initially attracted some students, teachers, and intellectuals, and later began to absorb civil servants, staff, and workers. The spread of the Renaissance ideology extended beyond Damascus to other major cities in Syria and even Iraq… The Renaissance Party once led or participated in the struggle against the Baghdad Pact, the Eisenhower Doctrine, the nationalization of the Suez Canal, and the invasion of Egypt by Britain, France, and Israel, and participated in the 1958 Iraq Revolution.

In the 1950s, the Renaissance Party developed rapidly and established its own institutions in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. The party also pushed for the merger of Syria and Egypt, but after the merger, Nasser announced the dissolution of all political parties, causing internal divisions within the Renaissance Party and nationalism to prevail.

On February 23, 1966, the young soldiers of the Renaissance Party rose to power, and Jadid and Assad launched another coup, overthrowing the government of Amin Hafez and seizing the leadership of the Renaissance Party’s national and regional leadership institutions. In the 9th National Congress of the Renaissance Party, elders such as Afrak and Bitar were expelled… On November 13, 1970, Hafez Assad launched a ‘correction movement’, seized power, and appointed himself as General Secretary.

This Hafez Assad, that’s Bashar Assad’s father.

There are two points to clarify about the Ba’ath Party. Firstly, from a political perspective, it is a secular political party that originated from the anti imperialist and anti feudal movements in the Arab region… The main leaders are relatively “westernized”, whether it is the early elder Afraq or later soldiers such as Assad and Saddam, they are all modern politicians who do not wear headscarves or long robes, and even wear suits and shave.

No matter what, they are actually more “progressive” and “secular” than those extreme religious believers in the Middle East. For the West, they are actually more moderate. They can accept the ideas of “freedom” and “democracy”, and even accept American aid… In the end, anti Americanism is actually forced to rebel.

They seized power by force. In the Arab region, they are a minority and have not united the middle and lower classes. Their ideological influence is not as strong as traditional religious forces.

Finally, the “Renaissance Party” back then was actually leaning towards the “left” because they engaged in “nationalization”, “five-year plans”, “land reform”, and continued to promote the nationalization movement of private components in large and medium-sized enterprises, bank credit, import and export trade, and other fields, with a degree of over 75%; Nationalize large real estate and distribute it to farmers who have little or no land

The Renaissance Party also built a large number of infrastructure such as power, transportation, petrochemicals, and water conservancy, and implemented many reforms in education, healthcare, and social life that were beneficial to the general public

But Syria is too small, with scarce resources and numerous sects. The policies of the Ba’ath Party have not allowed the country’s economy to grow, and overly radical reform measures have offended the landlord and clerical classes that truly rule the grassroots. As a result, Assad had to seek compromise and form alliances with landlord businessmen.

The sect to which Assad belongs is called the “Alawite” sect, which is an extremely niche sect. Its teachings are influenced by Neoplatonism, Christianity, and Buddhist thought, and are based on the teachings of Ismaili scholar Abu Hattab, forming a mixed religious ideology… In Syria, the Alawite sect accounts for only 10% of the population and is considered “heretical”.

If old Assad is still considered an iron fisted politician, soldier, and ‘dictator’, then his son Bashar Assad is simply a young man who grew up in an ivory tower.

The successor of Syria was never him, but his brother Hafez al Assad, who had high hopes for his eldest son, Bashar al Assad, and was appointed as the commander of the Syrian Republican Guard at a young age… As a result, in 1994, Bashar al Assad Assad died in a car accident.

Old Assad had no choice but to summon Bashar Assad returns to his home country to take over.

From the beginning, Bashar Assad was not trained as a national leader. He studied medicine in Europe for a long time and aspired to become a doctor. He took a wife of pure British descent and wanted to spend his whole life in Europe… His father forced him to give up his career as a doctor and send him back to his home country to attend military academy, take over military and political affairs, and become his successor.

Bashar Since taking over (the blame), Assad has not had a good day. In 2011, the Syrian civil war broke out, and various forces such as the “opposition”, ISIS, Al Qaeda, and Kurds rushed forward. The US military bombed, Britain bombed, France bombed, and Israel bombed Syria, using it as a weapons testing ground. Hundreds of thousands of people died and millions were displaced. Do you remember the photos of children taken by the “white helmets” back then? The West has bombed Syria into a mess, and ‘refugees’ have been sitting in bathtubs to Europe.

In 2016, Syria won a short period of peace under the hard fight of the Russian army, and the country was temporarily stable, but various forces still existed. The Kurds supported by the US army controlled the grain producing areas and oil fields, developed the rural grassroots with extreme armed force, and obtained the support of religious forces. Israel and Türkiye also bombed from time to time, and the country was destroyed, infrastructure was destroyed, and industry and agriculture disappeared… Then came the disastrous epidemic and earthquake. Syria had no chance to breathe, nor was it able to build infrastructure and resume production.

In 2023, Syria, a country with a population of over 20 million, has a total GDP of only 9 billion and a fiscal revenue of only 800 million… I have heard some people talk about Assad’s “corruption” and “corruption”. With only 800 million in fiscal revenue, what can he embezzle? 800 million yuan is not even comparable to the finances of a single county in Dongda, and it is not enough to pay salaries, let alone engage in construction.

Bashar Assad’s level is indeed insufficient, and the Ba’ath Party has indeed separated from the people. Therefore, whoever loves to do it on this land of Syria can do it. The Syrian people can go their own way in the future

Israel, Türkiye, the United States, Israel, Iran, Russia… continue to stir; Continue fighting against the Sham Liberation Organization, Syrian National Army, Free Army, Kurdish people, Nasser Armed Forces, Islamic State, Alpha Army, Syrian Islamic Army… and see what kind of “Gu King” you can raise.

The sudden collapse of Syria is not surprising at all. They are too weak, too poor, and have long been hollowed out by war and disaster.

Civil war, earthquake, epidemic situation, hundreds of thousands of dead people and thousands of people have fled to Europe over the years. The Assad regime has long been riddled with holes and crumbling. Long term war, complete destruction of infrastructure, business depression, oil and food not in their own hands, agricultural industry is about nothing, and soldiers can not pay their salaries… simply because they can not support the economy, Türkiye and its agents saw the flaws, and a wave of penetration.

Syria is not Ukraine, it lacks fertile land, abundant resources, and strategic depth. These cities in the desert cannot persist without foreign aid… Syria’s most profitable areas, such as grain producing regions and oil fields, are controlled by the Kurdish people supported by the United States, and the Assad government has no economic cycle of its own… nor can it build infrastructure, so it cannot unite the majority.

Assad himself does not actually have a strong ruling foundation. His Alawite faction only accounts for 10% of the population. In fact, in the Middle East, one must not engage in secularization. The more conservative and extreme one is, the more support they can gain from the lower class people… A young man who has received liberal democratic modern education in Britain for half his life and his Western style wife, how can they unite with the basic group wearing headscarves? He was able to endure for more than ten years, relying on miracles except for the Russian army’s ability to fight.

Today, if Syria is lost, it will be lost, and all of this was not earned by him alone.

In fact, let’s not say that Russia and Iran are helpless. Even the United States and Israel have not actually responded to this wave, and Türkiye, the behind the scenes culprit, is also muddleheaded – winning too fast. In fact, Erdogan does not want to take over this mess completely, so that is why Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia are holding a “G8 meeting” in Doha.

Do you remember when the Syrian civil war began? In 2011, it has been 13 years since the United States, Britain and France, Russia, Türkiye and Iran all participated in the “joint celebration”… The government forces, the “opposition”, the ISIS of the “Islamic State”, the Taliban, and the Sharm Liberation Organization (HTS), which has made a big splash this time, all have the support of international military forces. In 2016, the stability of the situation was mainly because the Russian army and the US military were able to form a strategic balance in Syria.

In addition, the reason why the terrorists could not be completely eliminated in those years was that the US military bombed the government forces twice a day, and Türkiye apparently shot down the Russian aircraft.

Now, the Russian military has heavily invested in the Ukrainian battlefield, and the US military has actually “semi abandoned” Syria and Iraq after the Kabul evacuation, which has given HTS the opportunity to rise.

HTS is a “terrorist” certified by the United States, who cuts their heads and eyes without blinking when they catch secularists. They are almost impossible to “progress” or “secularize”. Moreover, there are more extreme and “terrifying” armed forces within Syria than just this one.

Now Syria has no state, no government, no order, and some people who open champagne for the United States and Israel also have a rest. Now Syria is fragmented, warlords are numerous, terrorism is prevalent, and the withdrawal of major powers has completely become a chicken eating battlefield… Whether it is the United States, Russia, Türkiye, Iran, Israel, it is impossible to achieve their own political goals in such a place, to take advantage and gain benefits, which is even more fantastic.

What kind of Syria can they rule if they can’t even handle their own family affairs?

The concepts of ‘small wins, medium wins, and big wins’ are all taken for granted. In a chaotic and ownerless land, making any empty promises is meaningless.

History has proven that in some ‘cemeteries’, the more investment is made, the greater the loss. Those arrogant imperial lords have lost their underwear… In the end, they can only’ respect the fate of others’.

By the way, HTS has already started fighting with Kurdish armed groups, and the Israeli army has also entered Syria. The real chicken eating battlefield has arrived.

The demise of the Syrian Republic means that Syria has returned to its pre colonial state before 1946, which is a fragmented political zone composed of different ethnic, religious, and political forces. Syria is just a geographical term.

Nearly 80 years of constructing a nation-state have ultimately failed.

Many people like to criticize “nationalism” and “nationalism”, but they do not know that in many parts of the world, “nation” and “state” are precious things that cannot be obtained.
