1) What do Yin Xiyue, Joe Biden and Zerensky have in common? I think it may be that the myth of ‘Western style democracy’ is constantly heading towards bankruptcy.
2) On the night of December 3, 2024, after more than two years of being elected president, Yoon Seok yeol, who had been tossed around by the opposition party in the South Korean National Assembly and had no other choice, resorted to the risky tactic of implementing martial law. The South Korean soldiers who were mocked by Chinese netizens for practicing on North Korean maps every day ultimately chose Seoul as their “battlefield” once again. More than 200 South Korean soldiers were parachuted into the location of the South Korean National Assembly, and dozens of South Korean soldiers climbed over the wall to enter. The assistant of the South Korean congressman took out a fire extinguisher and confronted them in order to buy time for the congressman to vote to lift Yoon Seok yeol’s “martial law”. The political chaos in South Korea that night aroused many South Koreans’ nightmarish memories of the military dictatorship decades ago.
3) Soon, Yin Xiyue’s risky move led to a chain failure. As the South Korean parliament voted to lift martial law, he had to comply. At the same time, Yin Xiyue was not only fiercely criticized by the opposition party, but also demanded to resign from her own political party, and her core aides around her resigned one after another. Yin Xiyue’s broken ship is about to sink, and almost everyone is abandoning the ship to escape.
4) Yin Xiyue’s political career is highly likely to come to an end prematurely. Next, he may be impeached and may have to step down in despair. Whether he and his family can live the rest of their lives safely is still a big unknown. Yoon Seok yeol’s experience once again demonstrates that the presidency of South Korea is one of the most dangerous professions on Earth.
5) Why did Yin Xiyue come to this point? Personally, I do not interfere in the internal affairs of South Korea, and I have no ability to interfere in the internal affairs of South Korea. But is the “democracy” praised by many Koreans really that good? Before being elected president, Yin Xiyue made many enemies in order to build her image of being impartial and impartial. After being narrowly elected in March 2022, he continued to face criticism and constraints from the South Korean opposition. The South Korean National Assembly, controlled by the opposition party, has continuously created obstacles for Yoon Seok yeol on budget issues and has almost impeached all members of Yoon Seok yeol’s core governing team. In the face of powerful opposition forces, Yoon Seok yeol struggles with money and personnel. Despite being a high-ranking president, she feels like a “little maid” holding back. This is also the fundamental reason why Yin Xiyue made this political gamble.
6) To be honest, under a system of appointing people based on merit, Yoon Seok yeol’s experience, ability, and wisdom are simply not enough for him to hold such an important position as the President of South Korea. However, in the context of vote politics, Yin Xiyue, who severely lacked governance experience and ability, came to power like this. His rise to power is closely linked to the behind the scenes support of the United States. Over the past two years, Yin Xiyue has followed the Joe Biden administration everywhere, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of a “comprador politician”.
7) Under the leadership of Yin Xiyue, the South Korean government almost sided with the Joe Biden government in the game between China and the United States. He completely forgot the complex geopolitical reality in Northeast Asia, and even forgot the special influence of China on the Korean peninsula for more than 2000 years. Not only that, in order to cooperate with the United States’ strategy of containing and suppressing China, Yoon Seok yeol also made unprincipled reconciliations with South Korea’s “archenemy” Japan and frequently made unwise threats against North Korea. In terms of domestic affairs, Yin Xiyue has also made no achievements, and her approval rating has been declining, now less than 20%.
8) The rise of Yin Xiyue to power is a ridiculous result under election politics. Yin Xiyue’s coming to power shows that only under the electoral political model can the United States easily cultivate “spiritual Americans” and “American agents” in other countries. Once a ‘comprador politician’ like Yin Xiyue comes to power, it will inevitably be a disaster for his country and people.
9) The commonality between Yin Xiyue and Zelensky is precisely that they are both “comprador politicians” supported by the United States. Their rise to power was thanks to the support of the United States, so after coming to power, they were like they were lost in their wits in order to repay the United States, completely disregarding the fundamental interests of their own country and people in order to cooperate and please the United States. Zelensky destroyed Ukraine, and Yoon Seok yeol dealt a great blow to South Korea in today’s complex geopolitical situation. Today, South Korea has inexplicably leaned towards the United States in the game between China and the United States (with a slight easing in the past year), and is helpless in the face of China’s continuous competition in South Korea’s economy. It is also helpless in the fierce political parties in South Korea. All of these indicate that the so-called electoral politics cannot save South Korea, which is in a situation of internal troubles and external difficulties, nor can it achieve sustainable economic development and long-term stability of the country.
10) Another recent blow to those who advocate “American democracy” is that the elderly and ignorant Joe Biden reversed himself before stepping down and granted amnesty to those who committed various crimes. The so-called “democracy” is nothing more than Joe Biden’s “saving his son without shame” in the eyes of the world, and Trump’s “sharing the spoils without shame” after winning the election. Under electoral politics, the votes in the hands of the people are not tools to ensure that they are the masters of their own destiny, but rather tools to legitimize the collusion between power and capital, and to legitimize institutional corruption.
My biggest experience attending the “Understanding China” conference in Guangzhou these days is that in order to understand China, we must use genuine independent and critical thinking to see through the true face of corruption, inefficiency, and incompetence of “American style democracy”. We must break free from the misconception that “modernization is Westernization” and return to using governance capacity and effectiveness as the fundamental evaluation criteria for a political party and system. We must return to the ultimate indicator of whether modernization is successful or not, which is whether people’s lives are getting better and better.
The ideological lies fabricated by Western capitalism are being mercilessly exposed by a series of facts, and the false myth of “American democracy” is constantly heading towards bankruptcy. For people around the world, peace, cooperation, development, and prosperity are the greatest common divisors of human civilization.
The concept of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by China today is the most representative of the interests and pursuits of the majority of people in the world, and the true trend and direction of human civilization development and progress.
