Abstract Yoon Seok yeol, Magical Korean Coup

A movie like plot is unfolding in South Korea, and overnight, South Korea has become the focus of global media.

During the period from late last night to early this morning, a shocking global event occurred in South Korea. In order to help everyone understand the cause and effect of the event, I will review the complete story for you.

The first cause of the incident was at 10:25 pm on December 3, South Korean time. South Korean President Yoon Seok yeol delivered an emergency speech at the presidential palace, stating that in order to prevent the country from heading towards national destruction and eliminate anti state forces, emergency martial law would be implemented throughout South Korea.

Many Chinese people may not understand the meaning of emergency martial law, thinking that it is simply to control, but for Koreans, martial law is basically the prelude to a coup. The last martial law in South Korea was in 1979, and then there was Quan Dou hwan’s coup, which directly led to the change of regime.

In fact, we can see the severity of the situation through the content of martial law. According to regulations, after the martial law is issued:

Prohibit all activities of parliament, local councils, and political parties.

All political gatherings and demonstrations are prohibited.

All news and publishing activities must be monitored.

Strike and work stoppage are prohibited, and all medical staff are required to return to their posts.

If you carefully read the contents of these bans, it is actually a complete control over the political activities of Yin Xiyue’s opponents. Once they are really implemented, they will become lambs to be slaughtered, and Yin Xiyue can go door-to-door to arrest people in the next step.

So after the imposition of martial law, South Korea immediately exploded because everyone knew that a coup had arrived and a critical moment concerning South Korea’s fate had arrived.

In order to save themselves and prevent further escalation of the situation, South Korea’s largest opposition party, the United Democratic Party, called on all members of parliament to hurry to the parliament. South Korea’s ruling party leader, Han Dong hoon, also clearly stated that martial law was a mistake and he would work together with all citizens to prevent it.

Then a plot even more outrageous than Hollywood movies happened in South Korea, with 190 members of parliament riding electric donkeys or even bicycles to march towards the parliament to defend their beloved country. What’s even more outrageous is that the leader of the Democratic Party, Lee Jae myung, drove a live stream from 4.5 kilometers away, running, walking, and taking a car at the speed of light to reach the parliament building. With the help of the South Korean people, he climbed over the wall and entered the parliament, live streaming the entire process, which is a realistic version of speed and passion.

At the same time as South Korean lawmakers went to the National Assembly, in order to prevent the parliamentary session from taking place, South Korean President Yoon Suk yeol ordered the elite 707 special operations unit of the South Korean “White Tiger Regiment” to block the National Assembly at lightning speed, and helicopters and armored vehicles appeared on the streets of South Korea.

However, strangely enough, the South Korean soldiers who had helicopters and armored vehicles for transportation coincidentally arrived one step late. Not only did they fail to prevent the legislators riding small electric donkeys from entering the parliament, but they were even blocked at the entrance of the parliament due to the obstruction of a large number of South Korean civilians.

What’s even more bizarre is that they disregarded the orders of the South Korean military leaders and refused to execute the arrest order, watching helplessly as 190 members of parliament arrived at the designated location.

Then, in a corridor of the National Assembly Building, the leaders of the Democratic Party and the National Power Party shook hands smoothly, forming a united front. They unanimously agreed to lift Yin Xiyue’s “illegal ban”, and the parliament passed the resolution with a crushing advantage of 190:0.

As the situation seemed to have passed, at 4:27 am Seoul time on December 4th, South Korean President Yoon Seok yeol announced through a live broadcast that he accepted the resolution of the National Assembly and would lift martial law.

This 6-hour farce has officially come to an end.

This is the complete process of the event.

After watching the entire incident, many people said that Yoon Seok yeol was very cowardly. You even chose a coup, but in the end, you still compromised. After all, the case of Pu Goryeon has already taught us that rebellion is not complete, it is better not to rebel completely. Can’t such a good case learn a lesson?

In fact, you have not fully understood the specific situation of this matter. The reason why I wanted to explain the process of the incident so clearly earlier is to make everyone understand that Yin Xiyue’s failure was not caused by so-called cowardice, but because he could not command grassroots soldiers at all.

Please carefully consider two details:

Firstly, despite the implementation of nationwide martial law, soldiers with professional transportation were unable to travel to the parliament as quickly as members of parliament riding small electric donkeys.

Secondly, after arriving at the gate of the National Assembly, the grassroots soldiers in South Korea refused to carry out orders from their superiors. Otherwise, they only needed to violently execute and break through the window to prevent the parliamentary session from taking place, but they chose to resort to manual labor.

Even more exaggeratedly, even members of the ruling party chose to oppose Yoon Seok yeol. Their party leader, along with 18 members of parliament, took the initiative to cooperate with the opposition party’s Lee Jae myung and jointly passed a resolution to lift martial law. In other words, even Yoon Seok yeol’s “own people” defected. You can completely understand this as the emperor wanting to eliminate traitors and mobilize the army to forcibly suppress them. As a result, the first sentence after the army arrived was, “Why did Your Majesty rebel?

Why did this happen? I think many people say that it is because Yin Xiyue is unpopular. Of course, this must be a very important reason. But I personally think that the real cause of the failure of Yin Xiyue’s coup is the historical experience of the Korean people.

South Korea is a country with a history of military rule and has experienced multiple coups, with the most famous being two:

On May 16, 1961, Park Chung hee and his allies launched the May 16 military coup, which opened the 32 year military government period in South Korea.

The other time was on December 12, 1979, after the assassination of Park Chung hee, the military coup launched by Chun Doo hwan, known as the Double 12 Coup. South Korea also made a movie called “Seoul Spring” to recreate this coup.

All the people who participated in the two coups were liquidated without exception. The most famous one was Quan Douhuan. When the coup was successful, he was the most popular person in the world at that time. But once he stepped down, he was immediately arrested in prison and sentenced to death. Although he was later pardoned, he was robbed of his home by angry Koreans a few days later, and he was still in court at the age of 90 a few days before his death.

At that time, most of the people who participated in the coup with him were also purged, and in order to prevent similar incidents from happening again, South Korea has been constantly criticizing the coup for decades, with opposition from both the top and the public.

Once you understand this, you will understand why the ruling party, the people, and grassroots soldiers in South Korea are all standing in opposition to Yoon Seok yeol. Because they know in their hearts that even if successful, once the historical reckoning is carried out, none of them can escape. If that’s the case, why should I sacrifice my life for you?

So the defection and separation of Yoon Seok yeol is only one reason, and more importantly, the current democratic system in South Korea does not support the coup. Even if Yoon Seok yeol is replaced by Lee Jae myung, this is unlikely to happen because the risk is too high and the benefits are extremely low. Especially for the lower level soldiers, if successful, it is normal to execute orders. However, if it fails, even if they are charged with treason and jump into the Han River, it will not be clear. This is the real reason why the South Korean soldiers are very restrained in this farce.

I know, seeing this, everyone is very puzzled. If that’s the case, why did Yin Xiyue choose a coup? As the President of South Korea, doesn’t he understand these principles? I personally believe that Yin Xiyue understands this principle, and he is well aware that the probability of a successful coup is extremely low. However, from his personal situation, he has no other choice.

Why do you say that?

The first reason, as we all know, is that he has basically reached a state of betrayal and separation. Since taking office in 2022, due to the industrial upgrading of a certain country in the East, many pillar industries in South Korea have been greatly impacted, and the South Korean economy is sluggish. Young people are dissatisfied with Yoon Seok yeol.

Then, due to the united front with Japan and extreme flattery towards Japan in the nuclear wastewater discharge and comfort women incidents, it sparked strong dissatisfaction among Korean conservatives.

Finally, he openly protected his wife from investigating criminal activities, which sparked strong dissatisfaction from anti feminist organizations in South Korea.

These three factors combined have caused Yin Xiyue to lose her basic support, with an exaggerated approval rating of only 17%, and she is basically alone.

In such a situation, the opposition party in South Korea also gained a majority of seats in the parliament, crazily cutting budgets for Yoon Seok yeol’s various policies, making it impossible to implement Yoon Seok yeol’s policies and basically in a state of being sidelined.

What is even more unbearable for Yoon Seok yeol is that the opposition party in South Korea has done two very sensitive things:

One is relentlessly pursuing and assaulting Yoon Seok yeol’s wife Kim Jeong hee, not only accusing her of accepting bribes, but also accusing her of forging resumes, plagiarizing papers, manipulating stock prices, and even arresting Kim Jeong hee’s mother, who is the mother-in-law of the South Korean president, last year. Anyone with discerning eyes knows that if Kim Jeong hee is not clean, Yoon Seok yeol will not be spared? So in order to protect himself, he must also launch a counterattack, otherwise he may be the next one to enter.

Another incident is that the opposition party in South Korea has impeached several senior prosecutors from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, who are highly likely to be people of Yoon Seok yeol. Only those who understand the internal situation of the South Korean political arena know this. Prosecutors hold a large number of secrets about South Korean politicians, as clearly stated in the South Korean film “The King”. Once the president is unable to protect his own prosecutors, a shocking event will inevitably unfold on the peninsula after the truth is exposed.

So the opposition party in South Korea has taken action against the prosecutor, which is a betrayal of Yoon Seok yeol, because if they don’t retaliate, their own camp members will collectively rebel.

So there was no other way, even though he knew the probability of success was low, he had to take a risk. This led to the farce that occurred early this morning. However, what he did not expect was that after this battle, not only did it fail to solve his predicament, but it also accelerated the end of his political life. Currently, the Chief Secretary and Chief of Staff of the South Korean General’s Office have collectively resigned, and the ruling party in South Korea is also discussing Yoon Seok yeol’s resignation. Once it is really implemented, Yoon Seok yeol may face an extremely tragic outcome.
